An extension is a phone that is registered with the PBX to receive incoming calls. A phone number with 6 extensions therefore has 6 phones that can receive calls. The PBX keeps track of which extension is used first and which second.
You can create as many extensions as you like. You can create one extension for each colleague, or multiple extensions if your colleague uses multiple devices to receive calls.
